Thanks everyone for your prayers. I am scheduled to go in Feb. 2nd ( Ground Hog Day) at 9 AM. I hear if the ground hog doesn't see his shadow they might cancel my surgery. Just kidding. I will be thankful to have this behind me.

Dear Friends and Love Community Family,We want to thank you for your prayers for our oldest son Dan and his wife Amy last week. It was quite the emotional week for their whole school in facing the double tragedy of two of their seniors’ sudden death. Many friends and relatives including the mothers spoke at the two and half hour memorial service last Thursday and pointed everyone to the Lord and the Hope we have as believers. Back Home Again... Cross Country Christmas Reunion 2011

I put 5,000 miles on the van over the past three weeks but it was well worth the many hours of driving as I felt like I was on a mission to bring my family back home again.

Amanda bravely joined me on this cross-country adventure that started in South Texas on November 29th. We drove to Comfort, TX and dropped off at the cabin all the Christmas family reunion items before driving to Oklahoma City. Christmas had ended over a month ago but my tree still stood proudly and rather alone in the front living room window. I am sure even the neighbors were beginning to wonder if I would keep it up till Valentine's Day. Our family dog Chloe had adopted the tree as her favorite place to sleep so she really didn't mind but I was dreading putting away the now very dusty tree and ornaments.

My daughter and I are traveling to Peru in June with a group from Ohio and Pennsylvania. We will be constructing a training center in one of the villages along the river. We will also be ministering to the local people in a variety of ways. My pastor has asked that I head up the collection of basic supplies to help with basic needs. Would you be able to tell me some things that are valuable to them such as creams or heigene items or anything in perticular that you think would be a huge blessing to them. I'm sure we could come up with a list of a varitey of things to take, but I'd like to make sure that we are taking is something they really need. I know from other trips that I've been on we've taken small gifts too. Can you think of anything that the women and children would especially enjoy receiving? I am about to take a brief getaway with Lisa, Crockett and Madi. We will be home late Thursday. Tyler called on Saturday very unexpectedly! He sounded great and in good spirits. We spoke for nearly four minutes - he will transfer to his training battalion on Friday. He has been at the reception center since his arrival. He sounds so focused and confidant. God is so good! Judi shared one of her books with Dick and I when we were in Northwest Africa recently. "But God, this wasn't my plan" by Carol Hopson. It's an excellent book that clearly guides you to walk by Faith. Now I've read several other books of hers...all are excellent.
